EAN-8 numbers (GTIN-8) are issued individually by GS1 member organisations only when the packaging genuinely has no room for an EAN-13. They cannot be derived from your company prefix. If you already have an EAN-8 from GS1, enter it here to get a scan-verified barcode at the correct size.
Verified before you print
BarcodeKit draws every barcode from one precise geometry model, then reads it back with ZXing, an open-source scanner engine running in your browser. PNG, SVG, true-size PDF and EPS downloads all come from that same verified geometry, so what we check is exactly what you print.
Private by design
Nothing you type or upload leaves your device. There is no account, no server-side processing and no tracking of your product numbers.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I get a real UPC or EAN number?
From GS1 (gs1us.org in the US, or your country's GS1 office via gs1.org). GS1 US sells single GTINs as well as company prefixes for larger catalogues. Enter the number GS1 gives you here and BarcodeKit turns it into a print-ready barcode.
Can I make my own EAN-8 number?
No. GTIN-8 numbers are allocated one at a time by your local GS1 office. Inventing one risks colliding with another company's product at the till.
Is BarcodeKit free?
Yes. Generate, verify and download barcodes as PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS with no account, no watermark and no sign-up.
Are my barcode numbers uploaded anywhere?
No. Barcodes are drawn and checked entirely in your browser. Your product numbers, SKUs and CSV files never leave your device.
Do you sell UPC or EAN numbers?
No, and we recommend you never buy them from resellers. Official UPC, EAN and GTIN numbers are licensed by GS1, the standards body. Amazon and most retailers check numbers against the GS1 database and can reject recycled ones.
