GS1-128 Barcode Generator

Make a GS1-128 barcode with application identifiers such as (01) GTIN, (00) SSCC, (10) lot and (17) expiry date.

UPC, EAN and ITF-14 numbers must come from GS1. We turn numbers into barcodes; we don't sell numbers. Get official GTINs from GS1 US or your country's office via gs1.org. Recycled numbers from resellers can be rejected by Amazon and retailers. Learn more.

Checking…

GS1-128, formerly UCC/EAN-128, is Code 128 with an FNC1 start that tells scanners to read the data as GS1 element strings. Retailers and distributors require it on pallet and logistics labels. Type the identifiers in brackets, for example (01)09521234543213(17)271231(10)LOT42, and BarcodeKit checks GTIN and SSCC check digits for you.

Verified before you print

BarcodeKit draws every barcode from one precise geometry model, then reads it back with ZXing, an open-source scanner engine running in your browser. PNG, SVG, true-size PDF and EPS downloads all come from that same verified geometry, so what we check is exactly what you print.

Private by design

Nothing you type or upload leaves your device. There is no account, no server-side processing and no tracking of your product numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get a real UPC or EAN number?

From GS1 (gs1us.org in the US, or your country's GS1 office via gs1.org). GS1 US sells single GTINs as well as company prefixes for larger catalogues. Enter the number GS1 gives you here and BarcodeKit turns it into a print-ready barcode.

What do the numbers in brackets mean?

They are application identifiers (AIs). (01) is a GTIN, (00) an SSCC pallet number, (10) a batch or lot, (17) an expiry date as YYMMDD, (21) a serial number and (310n) a net weight in kilograms.

Is BarcodeKit free?

Yes. Generate, verify and download barcodes as PNG, SVG, PDF or EPS with no account, no watermark and no sign-up.

Are my barcode numbers uploaded anywhere?

No. Barcodes are drawn and checked entirely in your browser. Your product numbers, SKUs and CSV files never leave your device.

Do you sell UPC or EAN numbers?

No, and we recommend you never buy them from resellers. Official UPC, EAN and GTIN numbers are licensed by GS1, the standards body. Amazon and most retailers check numbers against the GS1 database and can reject recycled ones.
